How Baseball Works At WYB
Each year, the majority of families that contact WYB have the same questions about how our league works and what to expect during the season. We have written a brief summary that can be read by clicking on the tab at the top of our home page called “How it Works”. For more detailed answers to questions, please go to the right hand side of our home page and in the “Available for Download” column click on “Answers to your Questions on the WYB Season”

Baseball Season is HERE!!!!

Written by: League Administrator
Saturday, December 31, 2016

Hello Wasilla Youth Baseball Families,

Thank you for participating in our 2016 Season. It was a good year and we are thankful the many volunteers and community sponsors who made our season a success. As we near the end of the year, the board is getting prepared for the 2017 season. Here is an update on upcoming events:

1. Online Registration Open January 1st. As usual, early registration will be available online beginning January 1st. Players who register prior to January 31st will save $5.00 on registration. Although the sunny days of summer baseball seem a long way off, please do not delay in your registration. It is important to our planning to know the number of players we can expect.

2. We are working to make Softball an option again. WYB would like to make girls softball available again but we need your help. First, we need to build a mailing list of interested players. Please email the registration chair at rstoll@wasillayouthbaseball.com if you have a player that would like to be involved in the 2017 season.

We are planning 2 divisions: Minors (ages 7-10) and Majors (ages 11-14). If we have enough players, teams would play each other and potentially teams from Palmer and Eagle River. The board is in the process of securing a location for practices and games. Some travel to Palmer and Eagle River may be involved in a Softball league.

More details will be available as we organize locations and volunteers to make this season happen. Please email player information to the registration chair to stay in the loop as information becomes available.

3. And speaking of volunteers..... Every season we depend on volunteers to make Baseball (and hopefully Softball) possible in Wasilla. Please fill out your volunteer registration when you register your player. We will need 8-14 coaches at each age division, plus team parents, scorekeepers and helpers of all kinds.
4. Menard Clinics will begin January 22nd. WYB will be partnering with the Menard Sports Complex to offer Clinics on the Turf beginning Sunday January 22nd from 8:30 -10:30 am. There will be 8 sessions. Players can sign up for all 8 sessions or drop in on a week-by-week basis. Cost and registration information will be coming soon. The dates of the clinic will be 1/22, 1/29, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26, 3/5, 3/29 and 4/2.

WYB will need coaches to help staff the clinics. If we can organize a large pool of coaches, we can cover all 8 weeks and make it easy for volunteers that can't commit to every session. These clinics are a great opportunity for parents to build coaching skills and we welcome parents to volunteer if they are considering coaching or helping a coach in 2017. Grab your glove and come out to play baseball on Sundays at the Menard! Interested volunteers may reply to this email to let us know that you are available.

We hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday and we look forward to seeing you in 2017.

Off Season Field Improvements

Written by: Renee Stoll
Monday, July 4, 2016

  1. The WYB Board is pursuing grants to improve the safety and restoration of our facility. On the top of our list is the installation of posts and large nets to stop more fly balls and leveling of fields 1, 2 and 3 that sink a little bit more each year. If you have any expertise or contacts that would benefit these improvements, we would love to hear from you.

Thank You To Our Sponsors

Written by: Bill Thomson
Monday, July 27, 2015

On behalf of all the players, parents, coaches, and Board of Directors, I would like to take the opportunity to say, "Thank You" to all our wonderful sponsors. Through selfless acts of kindness we are able to continue this baseball program. While it is greatly needed and very much appreciated, generous financial donations are not the only thing that get us through the year. Donated time, labor, and equipment is absolutely necessary to allow construction and maintenance projects to move forward. These in-kind donations also free up some financial assets to be used in places to enhance the Ball Park and go a long way in making this a safe place to play baseball.

I cannot mention all of them for fear of forgetting one of them. I would ask if you have occasion to do so, please consider our sponsors first if your ever in need of a service. The list of sponsors can be found on the right side of the Home Page and/or on your Team Page. Keep your money local if you can.

Also, take a moment to tell your kids/players how much these local businesses and individuals mean to our program; a valuable bit of information for all of us to consider.
